Harmony Academy is Three Schools in One

School 1: Primary Education

As a primary education institution, the academy serves Infant 1 through Standard 6 with a traditional Belizean education, in the context of the four pillars and technology integration.

School 2: Secondary Augmentation

Secondary augmentation adds options to students in first through sixth form at other educational institutions, providing additional training and experience for real-world opportunities.

Arts

Theater and music classes and performances, drawing and painting classes and exhibitions, and other arts-related instruction and presentation opportunities provide skills and practice to individuals passionate about the arts.

Technology

Computer science, game design, mobile app development, AI development, and other basic computer technology courses provide the foundation for individuals who need to use technology in the workplace or seek to start business or enter careers in the technology space.

Trades

Hospitality, food and beverage, car/cart/boat/small engine mechanics, cosmetology, construction, security, and health care training provide learning opportunities for students interested in entering the trades.

School 3: Young Adult Education

Those who have finished, or were unable to finish, formal secondary or post-secondary education receive specific training to equip them for success in life.

Literacy

Those struggling with reading and writing proficiency in English receive literacy training, which is the foundation for other learning.

Personal Development

Young adults receive training in areas of relational development, self-awareness, motivation, planning, and other skills necessary for confidence and success.

Arts, Technology, and Trades

Young adults can join alongside those still in traditional school for learning and practice in these areas.

Three School Integration

The three schools are integrated and overlapping. For example, high school and young adult students in the hospitality and food and beverage program are active in the school cafeteria that provides healthy food choices for the primary aged children. Those in the construction program assist with maintenance of all school building facilities. All students will be actively involved in applying their learning across other areas in the school where available, and in the community.

Community Integration

Where possible, the schools will be integrated with community outreach and involvement. The food and beverage students may operate a community deli, where the community can purchase the same quality menu choices available to the children, and provide meal delivery to the elderly, and infirm, and those hospitalized or incarcerated. The mechanic students may operate a shop that provides small engine repair services to the community. Massage students may operate a studio where they provide massages to community members. Software development students may provide custom software development services to community businesses. All of this is done under the oversight of the properly skilled and licensed teachers who oversee the respective programs.

Additionally, members of the community with unique skills and experiences will be invited to participate as visiting teachers or trainers in classes and community seminars. Community seminars and special events will be open to students as well as the broader community. Special events may be as broad as to include health clinics, job fairs, art fairs, sustainability education, personal development programs, and anything else aligned with the academy’s four pillars.
